Just thought I would
give everyone an update. We have been working on the 2009 show
as well as a 4th of July sequence we will be doing for the 4th of
July Celebration at the Park here in Jasper. I have been
building a US flag that I will cover with lights and sequence them
to a song or 2. We hope to see everyone at the Park on July
4th. Keep checking back for more updates as we continue our
process and get closer to Christmas.
Things have been going
a little slower this year as me and my wife have been trying to
start a family. We ended up doing IVF and we as of June 17,
she is 8 weeks pregnant!! Thank everyone for your thoughts and
prayers during this journey.
We are in the process of planning the 2009 show and hope
that you will continue to support Christmas In Jasper!!!
We want to thank everyone for their comments and kind words
about our 2008 display. We were glad to hear how you all enjoyed the
show, and seeing the smiles on everyone's faces this year made all
the hard work worthwhile.

A Christmas Enthusiast Prayer

As I untangle strings
of Christmas lights, Lord help me to remember that I do this first
to
honor You. Never let me
get so prideful of my display that I fail to see the wonders in the
eyes
of
a child or the joy on the faces of those who are still children at
heart. Never let me forget
that my total effort is
to make Christmas memories, bring cheer and to slow down the pace of
a hectic season if only for a moment. And Lord, someday when I meet
you face to face, may I hear you say:
"When you made
My people smile, you made Me smile."

Christmas in Jasper is a Computer-Controlled Christmas Light Display
in which all of the lights are synchronized to music that is
broadcast on a low-power FM transmitter to you car radio. Christmas
in Jasper will operate nightly from 6pm-10pm.
There are
several different songs I have sequenced for you to enjoy, so bundle
up the family and come watch the show. You can stand outside and
watch on the street, or you can watch from the warmth of your car!
If you stay in your car, please be sure to tune your radio to
101.5FM so that you can hear the music!! Also we ask that you not
block any driveways and please allow traffic to flow smoothly on our
street.

Creating a
display of this caliber is hard work and quite costly. I started
planning in January of 2007 right after Christmas was over. Most
people are getting back to work and starting their normal routine,
but here I am thinking about Christmas again!! Just programming the
lights to music takes about 2 to 3 hours per minute of music. So if
I am doing 4 songs you can see how long this could take. Then I have
to start creating the boards that run the show. After that I have to
make arches, then mini trees, and we can't forget about the
mega-tree. So let's just say that I do this because it's a challenge
and enjoy the challenge and I love seeing the smiles on other
people's face when they see the lights.
